Breast augmentation or enlargement is a surgical procedure performed under a general anaesthetic to increase the size of the breast or breasts. The procedure involves placing a silicone breast implant under or over the pectoralis muscle. The type, size and shape of the implant is chosen by the patient, in consultation with Dr Mickelburgh. The surgery typically takes between 1 and 3 hours depending on complexity and patients usually go home the same day of surgery.
